The Way We Ache
a new collection of poetry
When I was a little girl I wanted to be Jo March from Little Women - up at midnight, scribbling away by candlelight. Fierce and bold and clinging to her dreams no matter what life threw her way. I imagined myself a writer even back then and thought that just like Jo, I’d turn my life into words and send them off, hardbound in black and white to the homes of other people.
It’s funny to look back on childhood dreams sometimes - and even more interesting to notice how much of my life still resembles that of Jo March. Not sure how she’d have handled the whole single parenting thing, but probably just as fiercely as she handled everything else in her story.
I’ve just completed a second collection of poetry and this time I tried my hand at self-publishing. I enjoyed the whole process, it was a big learning experience and I’ll probably do a revised edition of this new collection at some point but in this moment I am so pleased to announce that you can now buy my second collection of poetry entitled The Way We Ache
The Way We Ache is a collection of poems that I wrote exploring the roots of my own resilience. I wanted to capture the connections between grief and joy, the relationship between earth and sky, and reflect on our place between it all. You can find my new collection here for purchase and you’ll see that it’s full of my own artwork too.
If you read it, I hope you find something in there that speaks to your heart, and I hope you’ll tell me what you thought of it!
For now I’ll leave you with an excerpt from a poem called “Finding Resilience”.

Your words are always so precious. What a treat to anyone who purchases your book...Congratulations Raine. Beautiful Blessings to you.
