it wasn't long-- maybe five or ten minutes-- before the words tumbling in my head started trickling out little pieces of the weather, the pulsing in my aching feet a trickle of something --perhaps-- inspiration that fragmented against my teeth
snow this morning. hard, icy pellets hiding the sidewalk numbing the world in a blanket of quiet my breath puffing out in clouds as i welcome the pause that winter brings.
It snowed last night, while the kids were sleeping. When they woke up I said "Look outside, it snowed." All three ran to the window, tripping over each other and exclaiming "That means I can wear my snow boots! And wear my coat and lay in the snow!”
There is earnest joy in small things.
What sweet and simple joys surround you right now? What winter moments do you have to share? I invite you to share three ordinary things that catch your attention and I'll thread them together into a found poem.
This is so beautiful, and captures the joy and essence of a snow day perfectly! ❄️
Beautiful, thank you.
